When we recommend this product

The HRV system is designed as a ventilation system, providing medical-grade, filtered air from the roof space to the house. This filtration is excellent for homes that suffer from damp and benefit from a steady stream of warmed, cleaned air in the winter.

As a winter heating solution this system relies on your roof space being warmed by the sun, so it is not recommended for areas with high levels of cloud cover in winter or homes whose roofs are shaded by trees. Additionally the warming it provides is excellent at taking off the chill, but does not provide the same level of heating as a ducted gas system for example, which can be thermostatically controlled. In summer, the HRV system will remove excess heat from the roof space (if you have this addition installed) to aid in cooling your home in the evening.

How to get the most from this product

As with all heating systems the HRV is only as efficient as your insulation, draught proofing and window treatments allow your home to be. It is recommended that you address these aspects of home comfort before you invest in a new heating system, particularly sealing large draughts, topping up your roof insulation and reducing heat loss from your windows.
